Dr. Robert Cullum

Rob Cullum is a researcher interested in the relationship between the development of international order and the impacts of global warming.

Rob completed his doctoral studies at Aberystwyth University’s Department of International Politics in 2022, with a project focusing on naval responses to global warming in the US, UK, and Australia. During his PhD, Rob was the 2020 recipient of the Round Table Studentship for Commonwealth Studies. He also holds a Masters degree in Strategic Studies from the Australian National University.

Rob’s research during the fellowship will follow two strands: one focusing on the historical development of order in the Indo-Pacific, and one concerning the ways that national-security systems have developed their responses to climate change both ideationally and practically. He will also begin a book project uniting these two themes.
