Mara Bălașa
Mara Bălașa is a pre-doctoral Fellow at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communications, Stockholm School of Economics.
Alongside her Fellowship at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication, Stockholm School of Economics, Bălașa is a visiting PhD Fellow at the Energy Policy Research Group, Cambridge Judge Business School, and a Senior Associate at the Energy Policy Group, within the Clean Economy team. She holds an MSc degree in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and a BSc in Economics, Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick. Bălașa’s previous work experience includes the European Central Bank, the World Bank, the Romanian Ministry of Economy, as well as at the Romanian Permanent Representation to the European Union.
Her research is focused on industrial policy in the green transition, on the costs and challenges arising from the decarbonisation of heavy industries (i.e. steel, ammonia, methanol), and on designing policy instruments to address these obstacles.
